Coldstream House is Southland Boys' High School Boarding Hostel. The hostel has accommodation for approximately 90 boys, most of whom live in the Southland area and board with us either part-time or full-time. We cater for boys from year 7 to year 13.
Southland Boys' High School has had a boarding establishment since 1954.
Please read and acknowledge the following information to help your stay at Coldstream Hostel be a pleasant one.
IMPORTANT
Please note:
- Be aware all the Emergency exits
- Please consume all food in dining room.
- Please refrain from throwing articles around Hostel.Liability: Please take note of the conditions set out in the "Application for Hiring Accommodation" form (link above).
BREAKAGES
Any item broken will be charged to your account at end of stay.
CLEANING
Cleaning will be completed during your stay. This includes luxing, replenishing ablution block and general tidying.
COMMUNICATION
* There is a card phone available by the dining room.
* A phone situated opposite the Office is available for local calls.
* Emails can be made at a cost of $2.00.
* A fax machine is available at the Office at a cost of $2.00/fax.

FOOD AND ALCOHOL
These are not to be consumed in dormitory areas. Alcohol must be consumed in the dining room or TV rooms only. Food should only be eaten in the dining room. Alcohol consumption is restricted to persons over 18 years of age.
HEATING
The Hostel is heated by coal-fired central heating. This is controlled by electrical time switches. If necessary, heating is provided during your time in the Hostel.
KITCHEN
The commercial kitchen is a busy and potentially hazardous area. Only those with permission to be in the kitchen should use it.
There is a fridge, a microwave, a hot water dispenser and a filtered water available in the dining room for your use.
LAUNDRY
Laundry equipment includes:
* 2 Maytag commercial washing machines
* 1 Dryer
* 1 large drying room with internal lines
* 1 rotating outside clothes line
* 1 iron and ironing area
MEALS
Meals are served at times agreed with by the Manager and the hirer/s.

RESTAURANTS
Invercargill has a large number of restaurants to suit every taste. A list is available.
SAFETY/FIRE
Please make yourselves aware of the Fire Exit format on the door of each dormitory and alarm boxes situated around Hostel.
SECURITY
Security is a group responsibility. Please nominate someone to secure all doors and windows and turn lights out before retiring.
SIGHT SEEING
There is an information kiosk at the Southland Museum which will give you a variety of Southland attractions to see. Venture Southland can help you too.
SMOKE FREE POLICY
Coldstream House has a smoke-free policy in place. Therefore, facilities for smoking are not provided. Smokers are requested to smoke outside the building at all times.

Blue Star Taxis - Phone 218 6079 - please inform them to use Queens Drive Entrance.
STAFF
The Manager is always on duty 24 hours a day. The Manager's residence is situated north of the Hostel. The phone number is (03) 218 9456, 025 826 361 or 0274 434 054. Other people to be contacted if Manager is not available will be on notice board outside Office. You will be notified of this either before or when you arrive at Coldstream Hostel.
Kitchen staff will be available at times to help when necessary.
GENERAL
Laptop computers and cell phones may be plugged into the electricity supply.
Lost items are your responsibility. The Hostel cannot take responsibility for lost items.
