Performance is a natural part of the learning landscape at Southland Boys’ and high expectations set the standard for high achievements.
Whether in the traditional activities of rugby, cricket, rowing, acting, singing and debating, or in the more contemporary disciplines of cycling, motocross, dance, kapa haka, musical theatre, Shakespeare Festivals and catering, Southland Boys’ get involved. The desire of students to represent their school is evident in the high levels of participation in teams and competitions. The school continues to build on the longstanding and dual traditions of excellence and participation. On the sideline in the Blue Army or in the team, SBHS boys support each other with pride.
SMALLBORE RIFLE
The Southland Boy’s High School A team:
Nathan Frisby(Team Captain)
Rowan Cox
Daniel Cornwall
Taylor Winsloe
Phil Brown
Ryan Warhurst
took out the Southland Regional Secondary Schools Smallbore Rifle Finals at the Invercargill range on Monday night (16 August 2010). Our team won by a 40 point margin with all members turning in, at or about, personal best results. Top gun for our team on the night was Taylor Winsloe.
Particular thanks goes out to both the Invercargill and Collegiate Clubs who supported our shooters on Tuesday and Wednesday Club nights. Our coaches Robbie, Cliff and Ken were invaluable in improving our shooting and guiding us through the various phases of the Regional Competitions.
This is the second time in the last three years that we have won the trophy.
