Hi,
In the weekand I travelled to Christchurch to watch the Year 7&8 Boys play rugby. It was a pleasure to see the Year 13's, the two Campbell's and Scott Eade with such pride, not only of their school but of the younger boys. The school should be proud of the way the whole team behaved on and off the field. Miss Mulligan well done to her for all her efforts organising them all to go it's not always easy.
I just hope the coaches get a good mention as they have very busy life's too and giving up there time to teach our boys is awesome. Well done SBHS!!!
Yours faithfully
Jayne McWilliam

Dear Mr Baldwin
Hello, my name is Melissa Bradley, my son Dominic was one of the Southland Boys’ High School students who have just returned from the Year 7 & 8 Rugby Tournament in Christchurch. I also went to Christchurch. First, I would like to say that all the boys’ represented the school with great pride and achievement. The three senior boys’, Scott and the two Campbell’s, not only had they used their own time to coach and train the boys, they did it with such pride. Not once did I hear a negative word come from any of them. Not only are these boys skilled in rugby, but to be able to pass those skills onto others is another excellent skill. These boys, I believe had school exams today and are also in training for their own First XV Final. Last, but not least, Miss Mulligan’s efforts she has put into this tournament. As a training teacher I also know the demands of the job, and for her to also put aside her own personal time, I would like to express my gratitude. For me, a teacher who is devoted outside the classroom for their students interests, is a skill to be valued. The boys played great Southland rugby and most importantly enjoyed themselves. As a parent of one of those boys, I feel very proud.

Our sincerest thanks to all involved in your Open Evening at SBHS held recently for those Primary Students who have to make such a big decision as to where they’re going to further their education.
Our son (Anthony) was very impressed with SBHS and despite the concerns we had about single-sex education, my husband and I were completely won over with how welcoming everyone was. Anthony left that evening with a spring in his step and the feeling of being ‘wanted’. Your staff were welcoming and friendly, professional without being intimidating. They were open to questions from both us and our son and displayed a great sense of humour and community ‘niceness’.
A special thanks to our young guide Hunter. He did a fantastic job of showing us around and although obviously a little bit nervous; his pride and enthusiasm regarding SBHS was yet another big tick.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to view your school and for giving us the information required to help make the next important decision in our sons life
Regards

wow ... if I am reincarnated I want to go to the Ball in NZ. Trenor loved, loved, loved it, but really I couldn't understand how great it was until I saw the video. This was awesome!! They must have felt like movie stars. I am amazed at everything these kids get to experience. You have given Trenor an opportunity of a lifetime and I can never thank you enough!
I have been asked to head up a parent mentoring program for at risk kids at Trenor's high school ... I have been reading about a lot of programs already in place when I came across Southland as spearheading a program that they adopted from the Univ. of Minnesota. I am going to email the administrator. Small world!!!!
I am going to forward this newsletter to the Plant webmaster. This newsletter is SOOOOOO much more sophisticated than anything done here. I am so impressed!!!!!!
Hope you are great and you sure made Trenor look handsome in the tux. Love, Teresa
