Boy’s Education

Southland Boys’ High School has a firm focus on what works for boys. Our values; compassion, honesty, perseverance, respect, responsibility and service underpin are deeply embedded in all aspects of school life.

The curriculum is deliberately designed with this in mind. There is strong emphasis on literacy (reading writing and speaking) and numeracy – aspects of the curriculum where boys often lack confidence. There is a wide curriculum is offered so that all boys can achieve excellence at their level of challenge.

We believe that our boys are learning to be learners for life and therefore need to develop and attain the skills that will be of service to them as citizens of the 21st Century. There are unparalleled
opportunities in leadership and mentoring to help our boys develop attributes such as strong self-discipline, personal integrity, hard work, service to others and commitment to both academic and co-curricular achievement. SBHS has a staff that is committed to building professional relationships that will help students achieve this.
