A traditional school with a contemporary heart

South Island Year 7/8 Waterpolo Tournament

The South Island Year 7/8 Waterpolo Tournament was held in November in Dunedin. Southland Boys' High School had 10 players, with Aiden McKenzie as coach, Kelly Lafoga as manager, Chris McIlwrick as the chauffeur and support person for the boys, and Nicola Mills as house mother.

Our first game was against Balmacewen and we lost by 2 - 6:4 was the score. Our second game at 6.45pm was against St Hildas and we won 11:5.

Our Saturday game was against Bishopdale Intermediate and we won that comfortably, 11:0. However our second game was against last years winners, Cobham Intermediate and they won 9:4 but people said that getting 4 goals was a feat in itself.

Sunday saw us play Casebrook Intermediate with a win 6:4. We then played off for 5th and 6th against Fairfield School with a score of 3 all, so we tied 5th.

Congratulations to Deacon Koenig who was awarded most valuable goalie.
