A traditional school with a contemporary heart

Softball

The senior softball team has had a busy few weeks, playing in Dunedin and Christchurch.

On 4 March the senior Southland Boys' High School Softball team ventured up to Dunedin for the annual Interschool against Kings’ High School. This was the first time in many years that there has been a softball match between these two schools. Southland Boys' High School were too strong, winning both games.

Then the team went up to Christchurch for the annual Div 2 South Island Secondary Schools Softball Tournament, where they were very competitive against the other 4 teams in the boys’ grade. A huge thank you to Corey Nicol and Rosie Cullen for taking the team to Christchurch.

Results as follows:

  • Vs Dunstan High - Win 13-1
  • Vs Shirley B - Win 18-3
  • Vs St Bede’s - Win 5-3
  • Vs Dunstan High - Win 12-2
  • Vs Shirley A - Loss 0-4
  • Vs Shirley A - Loss 4-6
  • Vs Shirley B - Win 7-1
  • Vs St Bede’s - Loss 4-2

Unfortunately the last loss cost the team the final but considering the team had 7 new players in it, they played very good softball - and represented the school respectfully on and off the diamond.
